Classic Car Detailing in Alaska: Bringing Back the Finish

We’ve had this beautiful Mercury in the shop for a full detail and paint correction, and it’s exactly the kind of classic we enjoy working on. Classic car detailing in Alaska deserves a little extra attention, especially when it comes to the paint. Before we start polishing, we inspect the finish closely and measure the paint thickness around the car.
Those measurements matter on a classic because you never want to assume every panel has the same history. A car this age may have been polished, repaired, or repainted at some point along the way. Knowing what we’re working with helps us choose the right approach before the buffer ever touches the paint.
Restoring the Finish: classic car detailing in Alaska
This Mercury had visible swirl marks and some dullness in the finish, so we worked through the paint carefully to restore the depth, clarity, and gloss. That rich red really came alive once the correction work was finished.
We also spent time on the wheels and brightwork, including hand polishing the wheel finish. On a classic car, those details are a big part of the overall look. Fresh paint correction paired with clean chrome, polished wheels, and crisp whitewalls can completely change the way the car presents.
That’s really what classic car detailing comes down to for us. It’s taking the time to understand the condition of the vehicle, working through each area properly, and bringing back the gloss and glamour that made these cars special in the first place.
If you have a classic or specialty vehicle that needs some attention, bring it by Rocket Paint Works in Soldotna and let us take a look.
